IMPACT
REPORT
BUCi is a non-profit project.
We don't make BUCi to make money. After covering operating costs (servers, AI, a founder stipend), 50% of the surplus is donated to cultural-preservation projects — especially the living cultures we curate that still struggle to survive.
This page makes every cent public. We believe an atlas of divination that speaks of "honesty" must first be honest about its own books.
i
THE PLEDGE
50% now · all of it, eventually.
Early-stage pledge: after costs, 50% of surplus is donated. As the user base grows and fixed costs (servers, AI) are amortized, the donation ratio will rise — the ultimate goal is to donate the entire surplus to the source cultures we curate.
We deliberately set the first pledge at a number we can actually deliver, rather than one that sounds good but can't be met. Better to pledge 50% and keep it, then walk it toward 100%, than to shout 100% on day one and fail.

THE MATH
Revenue − Costs = Surplus
Surplus × 50% = Donated
What "costs" includes
- · Server (VPS) + domain + email service
- · AI model calls (the LLM cost of each reading)
- · Payment processing fees
- · Founder stipend — a living wage, not a market salary. We disclose this line because sustainable > pure: if the founder can't live, the project helps no one.
- · Occasional contractors (visual, translation review)

CURRENT BOOKS
2026 · Pre-launch
Payments not yet launched.
BUCi is currently in its pre-launch phase, with all features open for free. Once payments go live, this block will show this quarter's revenue, costs, surplus, and donated amount in real time.
The first donation will be made at the end of the first quarter after payments launch, with proof preserved below.

FIRST RECIPIENT
Ganjoor · Persian Poetry Digital Library
Ganjoor (گنجور) is a volunteer-maintained open-source project that freely hosts the complete works of Persian poets — Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Ferdowsi, Khayyam, and more. It is the most important free corpus of classical Persian literature in the digital age.
Why them — every Persian original and English translation in BUCi's Hafez system comes from Ganjoor. We use the fruit of their labor to earn revenue; donating the surplus back is the cleanest possible loop.
You pay to experience Hafez divination → that money helps Persian poetry stay free and open to everyone in the digital age.
As we scale, recipients will expand to K'iche' Maya language preservation, endangered-language documentation, and more — always tied to the source cultures we curate.
v
DONATION LOG
No donations yet — at the end of the first quarter after payments launch, the first entry will appear here, with the amount, recipient, and a link to the recipient's acknowledgment / receipt.
vi
WHY PUBLIC
A donation pledge is only worth as much as it can be verified. To say "we donate 50%" without proof is just words.
So this page will be updated as revenue comes in: each quarter's books, every donation's destination and proof. You can come back any time to check whether we've done what we said.
If we ever fall short of the pledged ratio, we'll explain why here — we won't quietly change the number.
